LFC Media Watch: Who Is Reported Liverpool Target Ferran Torres?
Liverpool have reportedly joined Chelsea, Real Madrid and Barcelona in the chase for Ferran Torres but just who is the Valencia winger?

The Mail say that the Reds are monitoring the wide man's progress amid competition from outgoing Premier League champions Chelsea while the teenage sensation has also attracted enquiries from La Liga's big two. The links come amid claims from Spanish football expert Guillem Balague that Torres is on Jurgen Klopp's radar.

Writing in his Sky Sports column, Balague said: “He is 18 years old and did very well against France in the international break for Spain U19s even though they did not make the European Championships. “Torres was the best player for Spain at U19 level and the only one playing regularly in the top division. He has played six out of the last seven games, 11 in total this season, and quite clearly Valencia want to keep him.

“They renewed his contract until 2020 and put in a buyout clause of €25m (around £21.9m), but Liverpool and others are keeping a close eye on him. He is a dribbler, fast on the wing, can play on either wing, and he has got ability and intelligence. He can also play inside if needed, so he is a modern winger.”

Liverpool scouts are believed to have been following Torres since he represented Spain at the U17s World Cup in India last October – where his side lost 5-2 to England in the final.

Born in Foios, on the outskirts of Valencia, on February 29 2000, Torres only celebrated his 18 birthday just over a month ago but he has has been an increasing part of Valencia's first team plans in recent weeks. Primarily a right winger but able to operate in several forward positions, showing the kind of versatility that would potentially endear him to Klopp, he made his league debut in a 2-1 loss at Eibar on December 16 while his only start to date came in the 1-1 draw at Athletic Bilbao on February 28. 'Some people believe football is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more important than that.' - Bill Shankly, Liverpool F.C.
