No kidding; I suspect NBCSN's studio announcers will have a lot to say about today's matches. :D

Along with MOTD, we also get NBC's Premier League broadcast crew: Rebecca Lowe, Robbie Earle, Robbie Mustoe, Kyle Martino, along with a few guests depending on the day (Gary Lineker on Saturdays', Neil Ashton on Sundays' and the Men in Blazers on Mondays'...). A most eclectic announcing crew indeed... :)

Is it just me or is Newcastle boss Alan Pardew on borrowed time at Tyneside?
Daily Mail: Newcastle United fans' group step up protest against Alan Pardew by printing thousands of banners parodying owner Mike Ashley's Sports Direct company
Excerpt...
Quote:

The determination from a section of Newcastle United fans to remove Alan Pardew from his position as manager has ramped up another notch as thousands of posters were printed demanding the 53-year-old be sacked. A campaign named SackPardew.com has grown immeasurably in its endeavours to convince owner Mike Ashley to dispense with the Magpies boss as frustration mounts on Tyneside.

And the group behind the website claim they have printed more than 200 banners and 15,000 posters ready to be displayed when the Premier League's basement-boys host Hull City on Saturday - with the text used a parody on the Sports Direct logo, the company which Ashley owns.

The group contacted The Chronicle and told the paper they were confident the banners could be taken into St James' Park without any hassle. They said: 'They (the banners) are small enough to conceal so we can get them into the stadium, but we don't want to go down that road. 'We have contacted the club to let them know our plans and are still waiting to hear back from them.
'We have also let the police and council know our plans. We want this to be peaceful and well organised.'
Having contracted the support of many pubs in Newcastle, fans will be able to collect banners from specific locations which will be revealed by the group before the match.

He had the backing the other day of the chairman, in the UK when that happens in football a few games later that manager gets the sack. Its a bit of an omen.

I woke up late this morning, Macca, to watch part of that match...went back to bed after Manchester United those red bastards went up 3-1 to Leicester City. Woke up about an hour later and the first thing I see on the flatscreen is: Leicester City 5, Manchester United 3.

Suffice it to say, that was a very pleasant surprise to start the day with... Posted ImagePosted Image

MLS Soccer: New York City FC's Frank Lampard Scores Late-Minute Goal Against Former Team
Quote:

The away fans chanted his name, then – perhaps under their breath and certainly with a guilty conscience – they cursed it. Fate is funny sometimes. Frank Lampard will surely tell you that.

After 13 years at Chelsea, fate put the on-loan New York City FC Designated Player on the same field as his former club, only this time in the power blue of Manchester City. After 211 goals for the Blues, the club record, fate put him in the penalty box after a vintage late run, a game-tying goal one touch away.

Down 1-0 to his former mates in a match with major EPL title-race implications, the substitute poked in James Milner's cross in the 85th minute, stood up and refused to celebrate. It was Lampard's first goal for Manchester City and spoiled Chelsea's perfect start to the season following an Andre Schurrle opener aided in part by a red card to Pablo Zabaleta.

"I'm a bit lost for words – I didn't expect to score like that," Lampard said after the match. "I'm a bit stuck in the middle." Widely considered Chelsea's best-ever player, Lampard shared a special moment with the away fans at the Etihad Stadium after the final whistle.

He became NYCFC's second Designated Player signing in July, inking a two-year deal to join Spaniard David Villa on head coach Jason Kreis' MLS expansion side. Lampard will remain with Man City until January then join Kreis and his teammates for preseason ahead of the club's inaugural season.

“It’s football. If you’d said that four or five years ago, I would have said it was strange,” Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho said before the match. “Even a few months ago, when he signed for the New York team, I was not expecting this. But it was his decision. It’s life. When he left for New York, I thought he was going there. But it’s his life, his decision, and he has my respect for that.”

There are certain players out on the pitch that just exude a certain respect, a respect that's earned, not merely given...for me, two players exemplify that: Liverpool's Steven Gerrard...and former Chelsea man Frank Lampard; both are class acts and definitely worthy of respect, all around. :)

Besides the Merseyside Derby, there's one other derby of note this weekend: the North London Derby...it is, of course, Tottenham Hotspur and the Gunners of Arsenal. 2 clubs, 4 miles...and what could be one of the bitterest of English football derbies. Thoughts?
